Weblog entry:
- In search of Guy (and his Dog)
-
Turn to your blog when Google fails you, says I.
Here’s a little experiment in weblog networking — hopefully one of the three of you will be able to help me out. A couple years ago, I caught a late-night animation show on the SciFi channel (this was, of course, back in the days when I had cable). The show featured a number of short films, both animated and live-action. They were all pretty surreal, but the one stand-out among the bunch was a claymation flick called
Guy’s Dog
. Blackly humorous and painfully well-written, the short lasted only ten minutes or so, but I still find myself quoting lines from it two years later.Of course, since none of my friends have ever seen the damn thing, people tend to look askance at me when I do. But I digress.
So here’s my request for the three of you: I’d love to locate a copy of this movie, and would highly appreciate any tips on how to do so. Google has turned up relatively little; so far, I’ve found:
- that it was created by a fellow named Rory Bresnihan,
- that
Guy’s Dog
won Best European Short Film at the 1998 Murphy’s Cork Film Festival (at bottom of the page), - the image included in this post,
and that’s about it. Nothing as easy as links to any DVDs on Amazon turned up in any of my searches…so I turn to you.
Can you help a sidesh0w out?
Update: I was a doofus when I pushed this most recent redesign live, and neglected to preserve the parts of my CSS that controlled image layout. So if things look a little weird on this post, kindly reload and try again.
Update: An enterprising reader named Khris just let me know that Guy’s Dog is available for viewing at AtomFilms—it’s not downloadable, but hey. It’s a start.
The search continues.
