- An office moment.

I stood stock-still in the doorframe, in the dark of the alcove outside my office, listening to an unseen guitarist playing on the floor above mine. The music is, to a note, beautiful: I can recognize Bach, Haydn, and Liszt, but am amazed by all of it. For those few minutes, the sound reverberates throughout the building, turning it into an almost-church. I forget the sweltering heat, the tasks awaiting me back at my desk, and even the reason for which I came out here. I simply listen, smile.
I fill up my mug from the water cooler and return to my desk, closing the door behind me.
