- Zen moment of the day

Was walking down toward the laundromat yesterday. A few hundred yards from my destination, I noticed I was sharing the street with a middle-aged guy who was walking in the opposite direction. He seemed to shuffle a bit under the weight of the orange hiking pack strapped to his back, and his bald head gleamed as brightly as the silver coffee mug dangling slackly in the fingers of his right hand.
We were on opposite sides of the street; however, he turned and spoke to me when we drew parallel to each other:
Guy: Whenever life gets you sad and down, all you gotta do is listen to a little James Brown.
Me: <pause> That’s what I’m sayin’.
Guy: And always remember. <points> It’s a man’s world — that’s what I’m sayin’.
He then turned, shuffling back along his way.
