At the end of an incredible freshman year at Middlebury, we all inscribed our names around the door to our hallway. We used room keys, knives pilfered from the dining halls, screwdrivers (well, okay, that was just one kid) — anything to help us commemorate a truly amazing nine months. To say the least, I was surprised to find that the names were still there; better still, other names have filled in the walls around ours, as later hallmates continued the tradition.
