Weblog entry:

You can’t have a post title before I have my coffee.

Discovered the joys of apt-get last night; definitely a boon to those of us still in the suck phase of our Linux education. Nod to Tom Smith for the excellent link for getting up and running with Red Hat/KDE.

My excellent friend Tacita rung me up last night and asked if I’d be interested in going to a peace demonstration. Choosing instead to bitch about the current administration rather than actually doing something about it, I’d never been to any sort of demonstration before — really enjoyed it. It was a gorgeous scene; probably 500 people packed onto the Weeks Footbridge, which was covered end-to-end with candlelight. I’ll post some pictures up here as soon as I get them off the camera.

The sad thing is that despite this massive outcry, this near-global effort to raise a voice against one administration’s decried agendas, we’re still going to war. Can’t think of too many things more devaluing, and less democratic, than that whole respectfully disagree nonsense. Here’s hoping for a little common sense in 2004.
